As Tulipas!

Apesar de as tulipas serem associadas a Holanda, elas são originárias da Turquia e Pérsia. As tulipas são as flores mais facilmente reconhecidas com seu caule longo e flor em formato de cone. Embora naturalmente as tulipas floresçam na primavera, os cultivadores são capazes de forçar seu florescimento durante o ano todo. O significado geral da flor é "amor perfeito" mas a tulipa vermelha, em especial, significa "amor verdadeiro".

Although commonly associated with Holland, tulips originated in Turkey and Persia.

Tulips are among the most easily recognizable flowers, known for their tall stem and the round cup-shaped flower. Although they naturally bloom in the spring, gardeners are able to force the bulb of the tulip to bloom year-round.

The general meaning of tulips is "perfect love," however red tulips are known as the flower depicting "true love."

Quilting!

O quilt tradicional é feito em seis etapas:

1)escolher o projeto, tecidos e manta;

2)medir e cortar os tecidos no tamanho correto para fazer os blocos do projeto;

3)piecing: costurar os pedaços de tecido para fazer os blocos e depois costurar os blocos finalizando o tampo;

4)Montar o "sanduíche" sobrepondo as camadas: forro, manta e tampo;

5)quiltar manualmente ou à máquina através de todas as camadas, juntando-as; e

6)colocar as bordas do trabalho no esquadro e cortar todo o excesso de manta e forro, costurar o viés pelo lado direito e com pontos invisíveis no lado avesso.

Traditional quilting is a six-step process:

1) selecting a pattern, fabrics and batting;

2) measuring and cutting fabrics to the correct size to make blocks from the pattern;

3) piecing (sewing cut pieces of fabric together to make blocks) blocks together to make a finished "top";

4) layering the quilt top with batting and backing, to make a "quilt sandwich";

5) quilting by hand or machine through all layers of the quilt sandwich; and

6) squaring up and trimming excess batting from the edges, machine sewing the binding to the front edges of the quilt and then hand-stitching the binding to the quilt backing.
